If you haven’t already downloaded the installer (Docker Desktop Installer.exe), you can get it fromDocker Hub. It typically downloads to your Downloads folder, or you can run it from the recent downloads bar at the bottom of your web browser. Running Docker Desktop inside a VMware ESXi or Azure VM is supported for Docker Business customers. It requires enabling nested virtualization on the hypervisor first. For more information, see Running Docker Desktop in a VM or VDI environment. Your Windows machine must meet the following requirements to successfully install Docker Desktop.
Install Docker Desktop on Windows
For the best experience of developing with Docker and WSL 2, we suggest having your code inside a Linux distribution. This improves the file system performance and thanks to products like VSCode mean you can still do all of your work inside the Windows UI and in an IDE you know and love. To run Docker, your machine must have a 64-bit operating system running Windows 7 or higher. Visit the Docker page for the latest instructions.

Even that didn’t install docker daemon. I have Thinkpad carbon X1/Windows 10 home edition. I also see Hyper-V params set to Yes as @aperk mentioned. I am unable to install Docker CE with the same error message. Recently I have been watching a tutorial where, in order to follow it, you need to have Docker running on your machine.

What’s in Docker Desktop for Windows Home?
A bit background on why installing Docker on Windows Home is different than installing it anywhere else. Windows Home edition doesn’t ship with Hyper-V feature which is required by Docker to run containers. Hyper-V is different than hardware virtualization which facilitates running virtual machines through tools like Oracle VirtualBox. The trick here is that Docker is separated into two parts. So, Toolbox uses a tool, called docker-machine to create a Linux virtual machine and run a Docker Engine inside it.
Troubleshooting describes common problems, workarounds, and how to get support. Docker Desktop starts after you accept the terms. Paid subscriptions are also required for government entities. Docker only supports Docker Desktop on Windows for those versions of Windows 10 that are still within Microsoft’s servicing timeline. Download and install the Linux kernel update package. Once you have a V2 WSL distro, Docker Desktop will automatically set this up with Docker.
Docker Desktop for Windows Home is here!
Containers and images created with Docker Desktop are shared between all user accounts on machines where it is installed. This is because all Windows accounts use the same VM to build and run containers. Note that it is not possible to share containers and images between user accounts when using the Docker Desktop WSL 2 backend. To run Docker "natively" on Windows, they don't have namespaces and control groups. So, developers use Hyper-V virtual hosts to create this isolation. However, Windows 10 Home does not support Hyper-V functions.

My computer can run VMs no problem, but just because it’s using Win10 Home it can’t run Docker? Under Ubuntu live image it works fine, so it’s definitely not a hardware issue. And Hypervisor support is enabled under Programs and Features. You can download and install Docker on multiple platforms.
This installs the latest update and restarts Docker Desktop for the changes to take effect. Virtualisation enabled, yet still unable to install DOCKER CE. One workaround I tried was to use choco package manager.

First you need to install a software called Oracle VM VirtualBox. It gives you the ability to have multiple virtual machines installed on your physical one. This way we can have a virtual machine which will be running Linux where our Docker will live. BIOS-level hardware virtualization support must be enabled in the BIOS settings. For more information, seeVirtualization.
